New Users | How to Activate Your SUNY Cobleskill Account via MyLogon

Overview

Before you can access your campus email, BannerWeb, Brightspace, or any other service tied to your @cobleskill.edu account, you need to activate your account through MyLogon. This is a one-time process that creates your campus username and password.

What you'll need

Banner ID
The 9-digit number starting with 800 that was included in your admissions letter or welcome email.
PIN
Provided in your admissions materials. This is often your date of birth in MMDDYY format (no slashes or dashes), but check your welcome email to confirm.
Important:

If you cannot find your Banner ID or PIN, search your personal (non-Cobleskill) email for a message from SUNY Cobleskill with the subject containing "Account Activation." If you still cannot locate it:

Instructions

  1. Go to the MyLogon Activation Page (opens in new tab).
  2. Enter your Banner ID and PIN, then select Logon.
  3. Follow the prompts to set a security question.
  4. Follow the prompts to create a new password for your SUNY Cobleskill account.
  5. When you reach the Done step, your account is activated.

Your SUNY Cobleskill username is the first part of your campus email address (the part before @cobleskill.edu). Use this username and the password you just created to sign in to campus services.

Our current password requirements are:

  • Minimum password length – 15 characters
  • Password must contain – an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, and either a number or symbol.

After Activation

Once your account is active, complete these steps to finish setting up your campus access:

  1. Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) — required before you can use most campus services. See Set Up MFA on Your Phone (opens in new tab).
  2. Log in to BannerWeb to check your course schedule, financial aid, and holds. See BannerWeb Login and Troubleshooting (opens in new tab).
  3. Access your campus email at outlook.cloud.microsoft(opens in new tab).
Tip:

MyLogon is only used for initial account activation. If you need to reset your password or unlock your account in the future, use the Microsoft Self-Service Password Reset portal (opens in new tab).

Troubleshooting

MyLogon says my Banner ID or PIN is incorrect

  • Make sure you are entering your full 9-digit Banner ID (starts with 800).
  • Your PIN is often your date of birth in MMDDYY format with no slashes or dashes. Double-check the format.
  • Search your personal email for the original welcome message from SUNY Cobleskill — it contains your exact Banner ID and PIN.
  • If you still cannot log in, contact the IT Service Desk at (518) 255-5800.

I already activated my account but cannot sign in to campus services
