WiFi Troubleshooting | State Devices

1.Forget Wi-Fi (PC)
a.Windows 7:
i.Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center
ii.Click ‘Manage Wireless Networks’
iii.Select and remove Tigernet or Resnet
b.Windows 10:
i.Click on the Network symbol in the lower right hand corner
ii.Click ‘Network and Internet Settings’
iii.On the left click ‘Wi-Fi’
iv.Click ‘Manage Known Networks’ -> remove Tigernet or Resnet
c.Mac:
i.Select the Apple menu -> ‘System Preferences’
ii.Click ‘Network’ -> ‘Wi-Fi’ on the left -> ‘Advanced’ on the lower right
iii.Remove Tigernet or Resnet
2.Check the user’s credentials by having them log into a Campus computer or their email from a personal device. If the users credentials are expired, complete the following:
a.User must know their #800(Banner ID) and pin. If they do not, students must call Registrar ((5522) and Staff/Faculty must contact Human Resources (5423)
b.Go to MyLogOn https://secure2.cobleskill.edu/MyLogon from the Kiosk station
c.Enter Banner ID (800#) and pin -> login
d.Enter a new password: Password must be between 8-18 characters with at least three of the following; Upper Case, Lower Case, numbers, symbols
e.User cannot use old passwords or passwords similar to their username
f.Once new password is entered, press reset password
g.Test new password by logging onto outlook, Moodle, a desktop etc.
3.Check for updates:
a.Connect to Tigernet Wi-Fi with an Ethernet cable
b.Disconnect hard line to make sure Wi-Fi stays on
c.Updates for Macs:
i.Click on Apple menu -> ‘System Preferences’
ii.Click on ‘Software Update’
iii.Select ‘Check for Updates’
iv.User selects when they want to check for updates
d.Updates for Windows:
i.Click start menu in bottom left corner
ii.Search ‘Windows Update Settings’ -> press enter
iii.Click ‘Check for updates’ in the middle of the screen
4.Antivirus software:
a.Please see troubleshooting guide – Virus_StateDevice
b.Windows machines has Malwarebytes installed
c.Mac machines do not have Antivirus software installed
d.If Mac machines are suspected to have a virus contact Cyber Security (5863)
5.Connect to Wi-Fi:
a.Windows 7 and 10:
i.In the bottom right of the screen click the Wi-Fi icon
ii.Select the Wireless Network (Tigernet or Resnet)
iii.Click connect -> enter Cobleskill username/password
b.Mac:
i.In the top right of the screen, click the Wi-Fi icon
ii.Select the Wireless Network (Tigernet or Resnet)
iii.Click connect -> enter Cobleskill username/password
