Step 1: Forget Wi-Fi
- Windows 7:
- Click Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center
- On the left, click ‘Manage Wireless Networks’
- Select Tigernet or Resnet -> click remove
- Windows 10:
- Click on the Network symbol in the lower right-hand corner of the screen
- Click ‘Network’ and ‘Internet Settings’
- On the left, click ‘Wi-Fi’
- Click ‘Manage Known Networks’ -> remove Tigernet or Resnet
- Mac:
- Select the Apple menu -> ‘System Preferences’
- Click ‘Network’ -> ‘Wi-Fi’ on the left -> ‘Advanced’ on the lower right
- Remove all Cobleskill Wi-Fi networks
- Apple Mobile Devices:
- Settings -> ‘Wi-Fi’
- Click on “blue i” icon on Tigernet or Resnet
- Click Forget this network
- Android Mobile Devices:
- Settings -> ‘Network and Internet’ -> ‘Wi-Fi’
- Press and hold on Tigernet or Resnet
- Click Forget network
- Chromebooks:
- Click Wi-Fi symbol on bottom right corner
- Click the gear icon -> Select Wi-Fi option
- Click Forget network
Step 2: Check user’s Account Status Via MyLogon
- User must know their #800 (Banner ID) and pin.
- IF the PIN is forgotten and no recovery method has been put in place
THEN…
- Students must call Registrar (518 255 5522)
- Staff/Faculty must Call Human Resources (518 255 5423).
- Go to MyLogon: https://apps.cobleskill.edu/mylogon/
- Enter Banner ID (800#) and pin, click logon
- Enter a new password: Following the password complexity requirements.
- Passwords must have at least 8 characters but no more than 18.
- Passwords must contain 3 of the following: upper case, lower case, numbers, symbols
- Passwords cannot be too similar to your username
- Previous passwords cannot be reused.
- Once new password is entered, press reset password
- Test new password by logging into the user account through:
- Outlook, Moodle, a School computer etc…
Step 3: Check for device updates
- Mac:
- Select Apple menu -> System Preferences
- Click on ‘Software Update’
- Select ‘Check for Updates’ checkbox.
- User selects how frequently they want check for updates
- Windows:
- Click start menu in bottom left corner
- Search “Windows Update Settings” -> press enter
- Click on “Check for updates”
Step 4: Connecting to WiFi
- Windows 7 and 10:
- Click the Wi-Fi Icon.
- Select the Wireless Network (Tigernet or Resnet)
- Connect and enter Cobleskill username/password
- Mac:
- Click the Wi-Fi Icon
- Select the Wireless Network (Tigernet or Resnet)
- Click connect and enter Cobleskill username/password
- Android and Chromebook:
- Enter the below information to connect properly to the wireless network:
- EAP method: PEAP
- Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2
- Certificates: Don’t validate (if not working use “default” or “use system certificates”)
- Identity: Users username (without @cobleskill.edu)
- Anonymous: (do not fill in)
- Password: Users password
- Apple iPhone:
- Settings -> Wi-Fi
- Select the Wireless Network (Tigernet or Resnet)
- Click connect and enter Cobleskill username/password
5. Connect to Wi-Fi:
If you device has the setting "Random Hardware Addressing" or "Random Mac Addressing" enabled, then you will need to disable this option.
- Windows 7 and 10:
- Click the Wi-Fi Icon.
- Select the Wireless Network (Tigernet or Resnet)
- Connect and enter Cobleskill username/password
- Mac:
- Click the Wi-Fi Icon
- Select the Wireless Network (Tigernet or Resnet)
- Click connect and enter Cobleskill username/password
- Android:
- Settings -> ‘Network and Internet’ -> ‘Wi-Fi’
- Select the Wireless Network (Tigernet or Resnet)
- ChromeBook:
- Click Wi-Fi symbol on bottom right corner
- Select the Wireless Network (Tigernet or Resnet)
- Android/ChromeBook:
- Enter the below information to connect properly to the wireless network:
