PowerPoint Narration

PowerPoint allows you to narrate your slides with audio and video recording capabilities. This is a great resource to use for instructing your material online. This document will walk you through the steps to narrate your PowerPoint presentations.

1. Begin by opening the PowerPoint you want to narrate.

2. In the Normal View select the PowerPoint slide you want to start the recording on.

3. Click the "Slide Show" tab.

4. Locate the "Set Up" group, and click "Record Slide Show". Click the arrow down to choose to record from Current Slide or Beginning.

5. The slide show will display in the Recording window, which looks similar to the Presenter view. At the top left there are buttons for starting, pausing, and stopping the recording.

When you are ready to start recording click the start icon at the top right or click "R" on your keyboard. A three-second countdown with start, and then your recording with begin.

Recording Controls

1. At the bottom of the recording window you have the option to annotate the slide while giving your presentation, as shown below.

2. In the bottom right of the screen there are controls to turn the microphone on/off, turn the camera on/off, and turn camera preview off.

3. In the bottom right corner of your presentation there is a box, this is where your image will appear if you choose to use the camera feature.

4. Once finished with a recording you can click the "Replay" button at the top of your screen to view what you have recorded so far.

5. When you are finished with the recording select close out of the presentation window. In the editing view of your PowerPoint you can click "From Beginning" to play your PowerPoint and hear your recordings.
