Fall 2023 SUNY Cobleskill's learning management system will be Brightspace. We are currently starting the transition and trainings to Brightspace. Below are the steps to backup your Moodle courses and import them in Brightspace.
1. Enter the Moodle course that you want to import from and select Backup from the Administration block
2. Select Jump to final step to backup your entire course. If you would rather pick and choose certain aspects of course are backed up than select Next.
3. If you selected Jump to final step you will be brought into your Course backup area. Select Download next to the course that you backed up, this will download a zip file with your course backup. If you selected Next than go on to step 4, if you selected Jump to final step you can continue to step 7.
4. If you selected Next you will be brought to course scheme settings which will allow you to pick and choose what to backup. Leave check marks next to items that you would like to backup. Once your done selecting items to backup select Next at bottom of screen.
5. After selecting Next you will be brought into the Confirmation and Review page. This will allow you to rename the backup file and review what is being backed up. Select Perform backup once you have confirmed everything is correct.
6. Perform backup will bring you into Course backup area. Select Download next to the course that you backed up, this will download a zip file with your course backup.
7. Now that you have your course backup you can log in to your Brightspace sandbox course and import the backup. To access Brightspace sandbox use the following URL http://sunyplay.brightspacedemo.com. This link will also allow you to register for a Brightspace sandbox course if you have yet to sign up.
8. Once you are in Brightspace select your Empty Course Shell from the list of courses.
9. Select Content Browser in your empty course shell.
10. Select Import Course and choose Import Course Package.
11. Drag and drop course backup from Moodle or select Upload to browse to Moodle course backup.
12. Once the file has uploaded you may select Import All Components to import entire backup or Advanced Options to select certain items from backup.
