Brightspace Sandbox:
If you are interested in exploring Brightspace to get an idea of what it looks like you may create an account for a sandbox course. A Sandbox course is an initial Brightspace environment that can be used to explore the core functionality that will be available in the new Digital Learning Environment. This is a temporary environment that will look different than the final production environment. For example, the Digital Learning Environment (DLE) Brightspace Sandbox will not have additional 3rd party/extended functional tools that will be available in production. The purpose of the sandbox is to explore Brightspace core functionality from a faculty and student perspective.
How Do I Access My Brightspace Sandbox?
Simply go to http://sunyplay.brightspacedemo.com to get to the Brightspace Sandbox login screen. When first-time users access the system, you will need to click on the registration link at the top of the page. It is a self-registration process that upon completion of setting your email, first name, last name, and password; you will have an account created as well as two courses (one blank and one filled with sample student data). From there, you can experience all of the core Brightspace faculty functionality that will be available in the production environment. The production environment will have all of this functionality and more.
Import Material from Moodle Courses:
Not everything will import from Brightspace into Moodle. The sandbox is a great opportunity to be able to import your material from your Moodle courses to see what will and will not import. Please see the following link to learn how to import material from your Moodle courses to your Brightspace sandbox course. Text and video tutorial are included.
