As we work towards starting the physical implementation phase of the Academic WIFI Infrastructure Upgrade project we wanted to take a moment to give a high level overview of what to expect.
What Are We Doing:
The physical phase of the project will entail ITS changing out each existing WIFI Access Point Device in all Academic Spaces. Then configuring each of these devices to talk and join in on our new OneCoby WIFI Network. There is a lot of other work behind the scenes, but during this time you will see teams of Professional ITS and Student ITS Staff in these spaces doing this work.
Collaboration and Communication:
Your collaboration and understanding during this time is greatly appreciated! Due to the nature and volume of this work we can only provide a rough estimate for what changes will be happening when. We recognize the importance of communicating progress. To this end we plan to leverage CobyNow and regular progress updates in a Team Dynamix Knowledge Base Article to keep everyone informed.
Where and When:
We plan to start next week and plan to finish by August 25th. Below is the tentative order we currently plan to implement in.

- Bouck, Prentice, Field house
- CANR, CM, Champlin, Brickyard, Animal Science A and B
- Library, Old Quad, Wellness
- Warehouse, Diary complex, Knapp
How This Impacts You:
In our broader communication planned to the Faculty and Staff we will remind them about their Private Key that we sent them to join the OneCoby WIFI Network. As the work is being done occupants of buildings will start to see the OneCoby Network appear which we will want them join. ITS is excited to announce that we are rolling out a NEW Campus Wireless Solution in the near future. Soon you will see the New "OneCoby" wireless network available on your devices.
This will make it easier for you to connect your devices to the WI-FI network, and it creates a private WI-FI network just for you and the devices you allow. Not only is this really cool, but this also enhances security for everyone using the "OneCoby" WI-FI network.
We will be sharing more in the coming weeks, but for now we want to share the following important notes:We are going to send an email that will contain your personal Access Key. You will use this key to connect all your wireless devices to the WI-FI network. It is really important that you hold onto this email or save your key someplace safe.
Details for what it looks like and when:Starting July 5th we will start adding users’ domain accounts to the new system. When your account is added you will receive an e-mail form the address “no-reply@extremecloudiq.com” . This message will arrive in your campus, @cobleskill.edu, inbox. DO NOT DELETE THIS MESSAGE. This message will contain your personal key to connect to the new wireless system.The message contents will look like the image below
