Faculty | How to | Take Attendance

Overview

Instructors can use Navigate360 to record class attendance if your institution has the feature enabled. If you have access to the feature, you see a Record Course Attendance link on the Professor Home page.

Instructions

Attendance:

  1. Select the Record Course Attendance link on the Professor Home pageUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. Select the course and date you wish to report attendance forUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. Mark students as PresentAbsent, or Tardy. If you mark students either Absent or Tardy, you can also select the Excused radio button. If you mark the absence/lateness excused at the same time, the student receives no communication re: the absence. If you mark a student Absent or Tardy but either do not mark it excused OR mark it excused later, the student receives an email about the absence but does not receive communication later about the absence being excused.
  4. The Pattern column shows the pattern of attendance for this student for up to the last 5 recorded attendances for this class. You also can mark only the students who are Absent or Tardy and then use the option below the grid to mark the remaining students present.
  5. After completing the grid for that course at that time, select the Save Attendance button. Go back and edit or update absences at any time.

Reports on Absences:

  1. Use the Attendance Report to find students with excessive absences. It is in the Student Data Reports section of Navigate360 ReportingUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. This report shows any attendance entry created by a user within the platform. A single row represents a single attendance entry with a created date within the date range chosen. If the attendance entry was created for multiple students, you find one row per student with the attendance data. For a student to be returned in the report, the student must be active in the term(s) selected. If no terms are selected, you retrieve all students active in any term with any attendance entry within the date range chosen.
