Some users when accessing Brightspace might notice that their account information is linked to a school other than SUNY Cobleskill. This occurs most often for users who have either transferred to SUNY Cobleskill from another college or university, OR users have taken college courses in their respective high-school and used Brightspace when doing so such that their high-school email is still associated with Brightspace.
Fortunately this is an easy fix that users can start to address immediately by following these steps:
Locate the Email Check Message:
- Upon logging into Brightspace, look for an "Email Check" message at the top of the screen. The message will say, "If this address is incorrect, please submit a request to have your email updated to the SUNY Helpdesk."
- Click on the blue text in the sentence that says "SUNY Helpdesk." This will redirect you to the help desk page for the SUNY Online system.
Submit a Help Ticket:
• Once on the SUNY Helpdesk page, click on the button labeled "Submit a Help Ticket."
Request LMS Support:
• You will be redirected to a page titled "LMS Support Request." On this page, click the button labeled "Request Service" located on the right side.
Fill Out the Support Form:
• You will be presented with a form to submit a request for assistance. In the form, explain that you would like to change your email in Brightspace to your SUNY Cobleskill email. Once completed, submit the request.
Confirmation and Follow-Up:
• After submitting the form, you will receive an email update from the support team once your email address has been successfully changed.
