3. Phishing Simulations: How to Spot a Test
A big part of your KnowBe4 training is learning how to spot phishing emails. Phishing is when someone tries to trick you into giving away important information, like your passwords, by pretending to be someone you trust.
KnowBe4 will send you test emails that look like phishing emails, so you can practice spotting them. Here’s how to handle them:
-
Check the email carefully. Does the email ask for personal info, like your password or credit card details? Does the email have strange links or urgent messages?
-
Hover over links (without clicking). If you’re not sure if an email is real, hover your mouse over any links to see where they lead. If it looks suspicious, don’t click!
-
Recognize a phishing test. If you think it’s a phishing test email from KnowBe4, don’t panic! Simply report it to the ITS team by clicking the “Phish Alert” button
Remember, these tests are for learning, so don’t worry if you get tricked once or twice—it’s all part of the process.
4. Tracking Your Progress
It’s important to keep an eye on how you’re doing with your training. KnowBe4 makes this easy:
-
Check your dashboard. When you log in, you’ll see your progress on the main screen. You can see which courses you’ve completed and which ones are coming up.
-
Set reminders. If you have a course due soon, you might get a reminder email. You can also set your own calendar reminders to help you stay on track.
-
Celebrate your progress! Once you complete a course, give yourself a pat on the back. Staying safe online is important, and you’re doing a great job by staying up to date.
