Some key points:

  • Software is completely offline, meaning that it is not susceptible to security breaches like LastPass has before.
  • Because this software is completely offline, it will only be accessible on machines that have KeePass installed and has your Database local stored on the machine you wish to access this from.
    • The only work around would be to store your password database file on a cloud storage provider such as your Cobleskill OneDrive, but bear in mind that you are no exposing your database file to the Internet where someone could potentially steal your database file and crack your master password. Additionally, any machines that you plan on accessing your database will still need KeePass installed
    • There is also a portable version of KeePass that could run a USB stick to circumvent this issue.
  • There is no method to recover your password database if you forget your master password.
    • it is recommended to download the emergency sheet that KeePass provides you when creating your database, but it requires you to write your password in plain-text.
  • Extensive settings to generate your password.

NOTE: If you are planning to enter your Cobleskill network account password into KeePass please keep in mind that you will not be able to utilize KeePass when you are at the login screen when you initially boot up a machine on campus.
