Detected Phishing Service Request

If you receive a suspicious email, there are multiple indicators to look for that could indicate that the email is malicious, spam, or junk.

  • If the email address does not match the sender display name
  • If the email prompts for urgency to “click now” or “download now”
  • If there is an email offer that is too good to be true
  • If the email is informing you that your account password has expired and needs to be reset
  • If you receive an email stating “view your fax”, “see attached invoice”, “click to access fax, document, or invoice” and it has an .html attachment or contains a link with an unknown sender address

If you receive any email that you are questioning the legitimacy of, please do the following listed below:

  • DO NOT click any links or download any attachments
  • DO NOT forward the email to anyone other than itscybersecurity@cobleskill.edu
  • Report it as phishing using the knowbe4 phishing button
  • forward the email to itscybersecurity@cobleskill.edu (see section “Reference Links” below on how to report emails)
  • If you cannot report or forward the email, copy the contents of the email and paste in the Detected Phishing Service Request
  • If for some reason you cannot do any of the options above, please delete the email, create the Detected Phishing Service Request and we will reach out momentarily.

In cases with suspicious emails, it is always better to be safe than sorry.
