VPN stands for Virtual Private Network and is used to securely connect to a remote location as if you were physically there. At SUNY Cobleskill we utilize our own VPN to assist individuals who are working remote which provides them access to Cobleskill resources that are only accessible while physically present on campus.
The VPN can be accessed either using the client/application version or the Web version, with each, its own use case:
- The web version of the VPN is the recommended method; but requires the individual to have a machine on campus to remote into. https://cobyvpn.cobleskill.edu:10443. Please note that this site will not work when using on-campus network connections.
- The client version should only be used if the individual has no machine to remote into on campus. The individual attempting to utilize the client version should ONLY use their state assigned laptop.
- The client VPN should already be installed on approved campus-issues-state-machines
